8-3: PHNOM PENH (Cambodia Herald) – The Mekong River Commission has handed over the management of 12 gauging stations to Vietnam to help minimize property and human losses caused by floods in the Mekong Delta, Voice of Vietnam (VOV) Online reported Thursday
The report said the stations, including six Mekong Delta and four in the central highlands, were part of a French-funded hydro-meteorological monitoring station project with support from the World Meteorological Organization which aims to help Vietnam establish a data-collecting network for the country and the region.
VOV said the French government had already presented 27 hydro-meteorological monitoring stations to Cambodia, Laos and Thailand to improve monitoring capacities of national hydro-meteorological networks.
